MOUNT HELENA WHIM FESTIVAL
PIONEER PARK MT HELENA
SUNDAY 25 OCT 10-3
Among the many displays planned will be the Avon Valley Vintage Vehicle Assoc again and this year will include stationary engines in operation to show us dummies that don’t understand engines, how they work. Plus there will be American and British motorbikes.
Look out for the coloured footprints to follow up to a service of blessing at 11am in our historic St Mark’s church.
Several new activities have been arranged including a parent/child activity of scarecrow building. There will be Alpacas to pat, garlands to make with fresh flowers, lumps of clay to try your hand at throwing on a potter’s wheel, wool from the sheep’s back to spin into yarn, other wool you can make into felt, and don’t forget to try your hand at Bob’s Golf Challenge. We have loads of brushes and paints to use on the big boards and the popular pavement art competitions will be on all day again.
On the stage we will have bands galore! Three big concert bands plus sax and guitar ensembles, open mic for kids and hear local artist Marcus Sturrock sing along to his guitar or watch the belly dancers and the Hillbilly Hoppers. We have organized shade for the audience this year so bring a chair and/or a blanket and be comfortable while you watch, listen and refresh yourself with cheap fresh juices, hamburgers or sample the CWA ladies’ Devonshire tea.
Such a special day could not happen without the generosity of our volunteers and sponsors including Lotterywest, Healthways Go for 2&5, Shire of Mundaring, Anne Lynch Conveyancing, Mundaring Hardware, Brookwood Real Estate, Mount Helena Tavern and many others to whom we say a great big thank you.
